The evidence supports a coordinated right-wing effort to restrict or reshape how slavery, racism, and U.S. history are taught, including opposition to materials like the 1619 Project. It does not support the much stronger claim that this movement seeks to remove all references to slavery from public school curricula. Some cited laws and standards still explicitly allow or require teaching slavery.
